Planning your Kuranda day

Kuranda is the rainforest village above Cairns, known for its markets, Barron Falls, the Kuranda Scenic Railway and the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Many guests go up one way and come back the other.

  • Wear comfortable closed shoes and bring insect repellent, a hat and a rain jacket.
  • Never swim in creeks, rivers or estuaries in the far north. Crocodiles live in these waterways, so only swim where signs say it's safe.
  • It's a full day out, so pack water and snacks and charge your phone and camera.
  • Mobile coverage is patchy north of the Daintree River, so download maps before you leave.
