Allow about an hour and a bit from Port Douglas to Cairns Airport, plus check-in time: book a pickup about 2.5–3 hours before a domestic flight and 3.5–4 hours before an international one. Port Douglas is an hour's drive from Cairns Airport, so the trip back needs a bit more planning than from Cairns. That's especially true with the early flights many travellers catch.

The easy way: book both ways

Booking the return on its own
If you came up another way (hire car, shuttle bus or tour), you can still book a pickup from Port Douglas to the airport on its own:
- Between 7am and 6pm with at least 48 hours' notice: standard fare, $273.90 for up to 8.
- Earlier, later or shorter notice: a 50% far-north surcharge applies. A trip that starts in Port Douglas means we drive up empty first.

Very early flights
For a 6am flight you'll be leaving Port Douglas in the early hours. Pickups between 8pm and 5am also carry the fixed $25 after-hours surcharge. If you can, choose a mid-morning flight or book the trip together with your arrival.
