Cairns summer is beautiful, lush, and incredibly humid. While guests love the warm tropical rain, it presents unique challenges. From managing mould to setting guest expectations, a proactive playbook is the difference between a high-occupancy summer and 1-star reviews.
1. Mould Prevention
In North Queensland, if indoor humidity stays above 60% for more than 48 hours, mould will start to grow. We recommend running all split-system AC units on "Dry Mode" for two hours during every turnover. This pulls the moisture out of the soft furnishings and keeps the property smelling fresh.
2. AC Maintenance
Your AC units work twice as hard in the wet. A blocked filter traps moisture and becomes a breeding ground for spores. We clean intake filters monthly during summer to ensure maximum airflow and clinical hygiene.
3. Linen Storage
Never store spare linen in a tight, unventilated cupboard during a Cairns summer. The lack of airflow leads to musty smells. We store all backup linen in lidded, air-tight tubs with moisture-absorbing desiccant packs.
